The Canadian Archivist

The Canadian Archivist was published annually from 1963 until 1974 by the Archives Section of the Canadian Historical Association. The Canadian Archivist ceased publication in 1975 when the members of the Archives Section of the CHA formed the Association of Canadian Archivists and began publishing Archivaria. This important publication represents the first national archival publication in Canada and includes articles by such prominent Canadian archival thinkers as Hugh Taylor, Jay Atherton, and former Librarian and Archivist of Canada, Ian Wilson.

The ACA graciously thanks the Canadian Historical Association for allowing ACA to publish The Canadian Archivist on-line. ACA also thanks all of the contributors to The Canadian Archivist that have given copyright clearance for on-line publication.

Finally, the ACA Board would like to thank former Archivaria editor Cathy Bailey, e-Archivaria Technical Coordinator, Mark Levene, the staff at Simon Fraser University Library and ACA Executive Director Duncan Grant for guiding this project through to fruition.
