Dear Archival Colleagues,

As you may know, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) is conducting a Save Library and Archives Canada Campaign.

The Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) is pleased to see CAUT taking such an interest in archives and LAC. However, while the ACA shares many of CAUT’s concerns, especially those regarding the underfunding of the LAC, we are not currently participating in the CAUT campaign.

In addition to taking an active role in engaging LAC about other advocacy concerns, the ACA has chosen to actively partake in the LAC's national stakeholder consultations and working groups connected to LAC modernization initiatives within the development of the Pan-Canadian Documentary Heritage Network. By taking part in these consultations, the ACA Board feels that we can bring the concerns of the archival profession to LAC management directly and influence the consultation process itself.
