This message is posted for all current ACA members, as a reminder of the opportunity to provide your input to this important initiative. At its AGM in Whitehorse, the ACA announced the creation of a task force on the future of the Canadian Archival System (CAST).
In an effort to promote transparency and inclusiveness, the ACA is seeking the input of its members regarding the terms of reference, governance structure, and potential outcomes in regard to what this Task Force can accomplish. While the ACA is limited in terms of the resources it can bring to bear on this wide-ranging issue, member contributions to this process are vital, necessary and valued in order to make sure that CAST has the greatest impact and relevance to the community. Examples of effective processes and suggestions about how best to undertake this consultative process are appreciated and will be considered by the Board. All suggestions and comments will be made public (anonymization of individuals making suggestions will be made upon request, but all suggestions will be publicized) in a document on the ACA website.
While on the Members Only website, please take a minute to check and update your coordinates and directory preferences. Our ACA staff will be outputting members' data to the 2012 Members Directory next week. This is your opportuniry to ensure your coordinates are correct. "My Coordinates" can be found under My Proflile in the right-side menu.
Please send in your input by Monday, July 30, so that the ACA Board can review, consider and approve the final terms of reference and governance structures to meet the September deadline to create the Task Force. The URL for your input is http://members.archivists.ca/content/all-members-group while you will be asked to login with your member ID which is @WEB_USER, and password to access this page.
Please contact any member of the Board with questions about this initiative, or the office if you encounter problems with your login,
Sincerely,
ACA Board of Directors
