Description & Duties:
The Saskatchewan Archives Board (SAB) is seeking a Manager for its Records Processing Unit.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Archival Programs and Information Management, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of professional and technical staff in the arrangement and processing of archival records and in the implementation of descriptive standards across the organization. You will also be part of the SAB management team and be involved in strategic planning initiatives budget development and policy analysis (development) that contribute to the effective operation of the Saskatchewan Archives and the protection and promotion of the province's documentary heritage.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of policies, strategies and workplans to process archival records in accordance with Rules for Archival Description (RAD) and in a manner which will meet institutional, stakeholder and research client needs. This includes management and oversight of the creation of archival descriptions, finding aids and other tools which will facilitate access to the Archives permanent collection as well as the management of archival databases. Knowledge of relevant privacy and access legislation as well as legislation and programs related to the monetary appraisal of archival records is required. The ability to set priorities, implement procedures to measure and evaluate service delivery and to effectively manage multiple projects and to work and communicate with colleagues, partners and stakeholders is also necessary.
Candidates must be willing and able to work in an environment where there may be exposure to allergens such as dust, a requirement to physically lift and move heavy boxes of materials weighing up to 20 kg onto shelves, and to transport archival material between work sites using a CVA vehicle.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, typically you will possess a masters degree in archival studies, history or a related social science AND a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience, including the supervision of professional and technical staff, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $32.936 - $41.273 Hourly
Grade: SGEU.11
A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks
