About the Organization: 

Our client, a well-established and highly respected organization, is seeking an Associate Archivist (Contract - 1 year Term) to support the management and preservation of its corporate archives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with historical records and artifacts in a professional, enterprise environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining archival collections, supporting research requests, and contributing to initiatives that bring the organization’s history and legacy to life.

Description and Duties: 

Key Responsibilities

  • Archival Management & Preservation
  • Catalogue physical and digital archival collections using established standards
  • Support the transfer (accessioning) of records and artifacts into the archives
  • Perform preservation activities to ensure long-term protection of materials
  • Digitize collections to enhance accessibility
  • Research & Access
  • Respond to internal and external research requests using archival databases
  • Retrieve and digitize records and images as needed
  • Manage access in accordance with privacy, confidentiality, and copyright requirements

Projects & Initiatives

  • Support special projects, including:
  • Implementation of a Digital Asset Management System
  • Coordination of heritage displays across multiple locations
  • Transfer of archival collections between sites
  • Contribute to initiatives that promote and enhance the visibility of archival collections
  • Travel within Canada and the U.S. as required (valid passport required)
  • Engagement & Content Development
  • Deliver presentations and tours in both English and French
  • Research, write, and publish content based on archival materials
  • Support the maintenance and curation of exhibits and displays

Qualifications: 

Education & Expertise

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), with a specialization in Archival Science (completed or near completion)
  • Training in archival management and preservation techniques
  • Experience describing, cataloguing, and providing access to archival records
  • Technical & Professional Skills
  • Knowledge of archival standards, digital archives, and emerging industry trends
  • Experience with archival systems and/or digital asset management tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Photoshop is an asset
  • Strong research and writing skills

  • Bilingual in English and French (required)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated project coordination skills
